What Is - Oil Pulling For Dental Health?

What is oil pulling for dental health?

This is a very simple process that will only take up to 20 minutes of your time. The reason I'm writing about it is that I have been oil pulling each morning for the last several months and it has worked for me. Keep in mind, everyone is different and will have different results. However, I have noticed improved dental health and I know it's working when my dentist asks me, "What are you doing differently?" after telling me my teeth look great and I have no cavities.

First, you must choose the oil you are going to use to oil pull. The most popular ones are the sunflower, sesame, coconut, or olive. I use organic coconut oil because I know all the health benefits and I don't mind the taste of it. Basically, first thing in the morning before breakfast or coffee, I will relax on the couch, watch the news, and do my swishing of oil inside my mouth. I'm a pro at it by now so I can go the full 20 minutes with it. Then, rinse my mouth out with warm water and I'm done.

Oil Pulling for Dental

You want to swish the oil around inside the mouth, between the teeth, around the gums, slowly swishing away. A tablespoon of oil is the recommended amount to use. If you find it's difficult to go the full 20 minutes, spit it out and continue until you reach it. When you're done, simply spit it in the toilet, then rinse thoroughly with warm water and/or mouthwash. You will definitely feel a difference in the way your mouth and teeth feel afterward and you will know it's working.

How does oil pulling work?

The oil you use along with your own saliva will work together to pull out the toxins and bacteria hiding in the crevices of your mouth. The process works like a magnet pulling these toxins which may cause illness if it reaches the bloodstream. It will pull the bacteria which is hiding in the pores, crevices, gums, and tubules between the teeth. Afterwards, you're spitting all these germs from your mouth, which is the gateway to the body.

What dental issues will it improve?

Bleeding gums
Oral infections
Tooth sensitivity
Tooth decay
Bad breath
Stained teeth
Loose teeth
Oral pain
How much will it cost?

The only cost with oil pulling is that of the oil you choose. Although organic coconut oil is more pricey than regular oils on the market and you can only get it online or in an all natural food store, it is well worth it. It has a shelf life of 1 1/2 years and the jar will last a long time. Well, my 15-ounce jar just a month or two because I use it for practically everything!! However, they do sell it in larger containers.

Oil pulling with coconut oil or whichever oil you choose should be considered if you have consistent dental problems. One thing is for sure, it won't hurt to try.
